While Brittany was preparing for her mission, she found all sorts of places online to learn about the Japanese culture and language. Here are some of her favourite websites to visit:

Japan Tokyo Mission Alumni is a site compiled by Returned Missionaries from Japan. It has a great overview of the Japanese culture, especially in comparison to the West, and you can read briefly about everything from climate to money to the way the Japanese write their mailing addresses. If you want a flavor of what the average missionary experiences in Japan, this is a fun place to start.

Kids Web Japan has neat games and virtual tours all about Japanese food, homes, language, and even folklore. This site is where Brittany started learning Japanese because it has simple step-by-step dialogues and audio files to hear examples. The website is made for children so it's easy for anyone to navigate.

Just Bento is about one of Brittany's new favourite things---bento, the Japanese way of packing lunch in a box---and offers information and instruction for hopeful bento-makers.
